ruby blue

I think Róisín Murphy is incredibly beautiful, original and funky, though often her stylistic choices are, to me, a bit...overdone. These shots by Mark Squires for Crash magazine, however, make her look even more luscious and retro and wonderful than she is normally.

my favorite song of hers here:

trash with class

being that i adore Karlie Kloss and think she's about the greatest thing ever, i absolutely love Vogue Korea's "Trash Couture" editorial featuring the lovely Miss Kloss. what. a. beaut.

oh my god. oh my god

Daul Kim was found dead in Paris today. As weird as it sounds, its some of the saddest news I've heard in a while. She was not only one of my favorites, but she was only twenty. Thats my age. Thats unreal. I think it just exposes that the fashion industry needs some serious change--girls shouldn't have to be that depressed for the sake of beauty. Its heartbreaking.

argh

so i just saw this promotion that if you bought a subscription to RUSSH, you would get a free 2010 calendar. don't ask why this intrigued me so, but it did. anyhow, when i looked at how much an international subscription for a year was, it was ONE HUNDRED AND EIGHTY FIVE DOLLARS.

it was then that i re-realized: i am much too poor to like fashion.

and i hate that i live in America sometimes, because international shipping is so much more.

damn.

sun, sand, and sweaters

lord, take me to a perfectly chilly but sunny beach where i can wear cozy fall clothes and be happy forever.

stop that.

I love you magazine, issue 2

Dear Europe,
Can you stop creating spectacular magazines that are practically unreachable to those in the U.S.?
Sincerely,

what fairy tales are made of

these Hansel and Gretel shots by Annie Leibovitz for Vogue are fantastical and dreamy. if only Lady Gaga wasn't in half the editorial. I don't understand her purpose in the shots.

on my mind

right now, and i don't know why, what i really want is one of these wonderful cocktail looks from the 3.1 Phillip Lim Fall RTW collection and an event to wear it to (and some of those marvelous burgundy tights). sigh. if only.

fall and such

I realize that though this is the appropriate time to WEAR fall clothes, it is not the appropriate time to TALK about fall clothes in the fashion world (which i have always thought was dumb, but whatever. like, who wants to think about fur and thigh high boots when reading all the F/W styles in magazines in July?) SO, even though this editorial for Waldemar and Max is not necessarily MEANT for fall, the lighting, the setting, and the beautiful Anna S call to mind the ideal fall weather we've been having in Nashville lately. lovely indeed.

the anthropologist

LOVING this website. full of inspiration, beauty, and loveliness.

j'adore

at the dries van noten show.

which speaking of, i'm absolutely DYING for a coat like the ones in the A/W 09 collection. long teal trench? yes please....

boys boys boys

as the weather gets cooler, i retreat back into man mode. comfy sweaters, cozy knits, and boots. on that note, i love the boots in the above photo.

also, the things i'm drawn to in winter seems to be less and less about style and more about functionality. mostly because when its cold, i'm grumpy and i don't care.

i lurve you

really really liking what i'm seeing from new independent fashion mag LURVE. its unique, innovative, and showcases all the newbies out there which i love. plus, these pictures of Daul Kim are simply dreamy. sigh.
